Loaner Chromebook End User License Agreement
Purpose
This End User License Agreement (EULA) governs the use of the loaner Chromebook ("Device") provided by Carmel Catholic High School ("Owner") to students ("User") of Carmel Catholic High School. By accepting the Device, the User agrees to follow the terms outlined in this agreement, to ensure the proper care and responsible use of the Device
Ownership
The Device is the property of Carmel Catholic High School, 1 Carmel Parkway Mundelein, IL 60060. It is provided to users as a temporary solution and must be returned to the Owner upon request or at the end of the loan period.Device Condition and Inspection
The loaner Chromebook is provided to the User in good working condition.
The User should inspect the device upon receipt and report any existing damage immediately to the school’s designated technology coordinator.
Proper Use and Care
General Care: The User agrees to use the Chromebook responsibly and to avoid damaging it. The device should not be exposed to food, liquids, or extreme temperatures.
Storage and Transport: The Chromebook should be stored safely when not in use. Avoid leaving the device unattended or in a location where it could be easily damaged or stolen.
Charging: The student is responsible for ensuring the device is charged and ready for school use each day. The charger must also be returned in working condition.
Use: The device is strictly for educational purposes, and the User agrees to follow all school policies regarding acceptable use, which may include restrictions on websites, applications, and online content.
Prohibited Activities
Installing unauthorized software or applications.
Attempting to bypass any school-installed security or monitoring tools.
Using the device for any activity that violates school policies or legal standards.
No Personalization: No stickers, writing, or modifications may be applied to the Chromebook.
Repairs or alterations to the Device without permission from the Owner are prohibited.
Damage, Loss, and Theft
Responsibility: The student and parent/guardian are responsible for any damage, loss, or theft of the device while it is in their possession.
Damage: If the Device is damaged while on loan, the User must report it to the school immediately. Repair costs resulting from damage will be the responsibility of the User and parent/guardian, up to full replacement value.
Theft/Loss: In case of theft or loss, the User must immediately report it to the school and file a police report if required. The cost of replacing the Device may be the responsibility of the User and parent/guardian.
Return of the Device
The Device must be returned to the Owner upon request, withdrawal, graduation, or termination of the User's enrollment. Failure to return the Device promptly may result in charges to the User for the cost of replacement.
The User agrees to return the Device in the same condition as it was issued, including the supplied charger.
The Chromebook must be returned promptly when the student’s primary device is repaired or at any other time requested by the Owner.
Consequences of Violations
Failure to comply with the terms and conditions of this Agreement may result in disciplinary action, including suspension of Device privileges, in accordance with Carmel Catholic High School’s student handbook.
Acknowledgment
By accepting this Device, the User acknowledges having read, understood, and agreed to the terms and conditions outlined in this Agreement, including the financial responsibility for any physical damage or loss of the Device and any applicable deductible fees for touchscreen repairs.
**Carmel Catholic High School reserves the right to modify this Agreement at any time. The User will be informed of any changes and will be required to agree to the updated terms to continue using the Device.
